APICS San Joaquin Valley Chapter is Central California’s to Supply Chain and Operations Management Education. Support the National APICS Organization, we are a volunteer-run, non-profit Chapter that instructs based on the APICS Body of Knowledge. Specifically, we offer certification review and preparation for the Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and candidates progressing to become Certified Supply Chain Professionals (CSCP).
What do you see as the biggest opportunity in your industry?
We cross over into many different industries, so that is our biggest opportunity. Manufacturing, Distribution, Packing, Logistics, Agriculture, and Food Processing all have processes that can be improved through the implementation of APICS Principles. Further, it is proven that Professionals with APICS Certifications have greater work efficiency, greater ability to thrive in Supply Chain and Operations Management leadership roles, and, best yet – these certifications pave the way to higher earnings!
What impact will changes in your industry have on consumers? the world?
As the world moves towards greater gains in Lean business principles, APICS provides the proper foundation to make all industries more effective. These gains allow for greater savings from Companies and make the marketplace more competitive, thus, more beneficial for the consumer. From a membership standpoint, our local APICS Chapter offers networking opportunities, educational events, and workshops that provide continuing education for those with certifications in process as well as those who have already achieved these designations of higher learning.
What is your biggest goal right now?
Our biggest goal is to expand our outreach. The APICS Body of Knowledge has been proven to make Organizations more savy in regards to Supply Chain and Operations Management. As the world becomes more unified with expanding sourcing options, having a seamless Supply Chain and Operations structure is key. As our own Chapter expands, our goal is to increase Organizational awareness throughout the San Joaquin Valley.
What kind of support or types of people do you need to accelerate your success?
Our organization needs motivated, honest, and career-oriented individuals. As with most higher level education, the CPIM and CSCP course reviews are geared to Professionals that WANT to learn more. In forever changing business environments, we strive to continue to prove out own added value to Organizations of all sizes, however, we strive to have our own successes be promoted from within.
What makes you or your work different from everybody else?
We are able to combine established and proven educational methods with real world examples driven by our own careers. Since we are volunteer-run, all educators and Chapter representatives still maintain active careers that not only utilize the APICS Body of Knowledge, but also learn from daily experiences with their challenges and successes.
