What do you do?
For over 20 years, ProtoCAM has provided industrial 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and additive manufacturing to businesses and engineers in all sectors of manufacturing including medical, aerospace, defense, transportation and consumer goods. We specialize in quick turnaround times, highest quality, and engineer-to-engineer service.
What do you see as the biggest opportunity in your industry?
Awareness.
Even though we’ve been providing industrial 3D printing services for over 20 years, the vast majority of the population has only heard about the “3D printing revolution” in the last few. Now that folks are aware the technology exists, we’re seeing requests from a much broader scope of engineers.
What impact will changes in your industry have on consumers? the world?
The recent expiration of many of the founding patents has opened the door for a flood of hobbyist oriented machines. This helps awareness of our field, and once people get beyond the capabilities of consumer machines, they look to us for professional work.
As this trend continues, engineers can move beyond the constraints of traditional manufacturing techniques to design parts never before possible.
What is your biggest goal right now?
One of the core foundations of our company has always been service. Our main goal is to continue providing that as we expand to serve an ever-growing number and variety of customers.
Plenty of places can make parts. Some come close to matching our quality, a very few can compete with our lead times, but we’re constantly reminded by our customers that nobody comes close to our service.
What kind of support or types of people do you need to accelerate your success?
Really, just more of the same types of folks with whom we already work.
Professional, creative, detail-oriented engineers are a pleasure to work with. They know what they’re looking for, expect precision, and typically have a decent understanding of what can and can’t be done with current additive manufacturing technologies, but aren’t afraid to push the limits. They stretch the capabilities of the technology and our engineers, and help drive the innovation and development of proprietary processes that keep us at the forefront of the next industrial revolution!
What makes you or your work different from everybody else?
Our biggest difference is direct service, provided by actual engineers, customized for the specific customer. We serve clients from major manufacturing corporations all the way down to well funded inventors with a great idea, and everything in between. They bring a variety of experience, expertise, and expectation, but in all cases, we’re available to work with them directly to determine the best additive manufacturing method to meet their needs.
Thank You.
