What do you do?
I’m a sculptor who works primarily in metal, but I’ve also gotten the 3D printing bug. My work can be seen across the country in public and private places as well as on my site at http://www.kevincaron.com . I’m also sharing what I’m doing with 3D printing on my blog at http://www.kevincaron.com/3dprint
What do you see as the biggest opportunity in your industry?
Using 3D printing to create art is a new and wildly expanding realm. With the size of my Gigante printer and my years of using CAD, I see a bright future.
What impact will changes in your industry have on consumers? the world?
3D printing is making art more ubiquitous and affordable – more art for everyone! Art is the balm to soothe troubled minds in tumultuous times.
What is your biggest goal right now?
I have several sculptures I want to get out of my head ….
What kind of support or types of people do you need to accelerate your success?
I’d like more people in the art world to become aware of my work. I’ve had a lot of success locally, but I think my work is fresh and unusual enough to warrant greater visibility. I don’t think anyone else is doing what I am in 3D or, for that matter, in metal.
What makes you or your work different from everybody else?
My Cerberus 3D Gigante printer is 8 feet tall and can print sculptures up to 4-1/2 feet tall.
My work in metal is distinctive and different, too – I make metal swoop and swerve in ways it didn’t know it could.
