Costin Isarescu — I am a Jr. Accountant for a Remittance Start-Up Company on the Romanian market. One of the biggest ethnic players on that market at the time.
What do you see as the biggest opportunity in your industry?
The biggest opportunity I see is managing to create the perfect one stop-shop for all the remitance needs of the customer. The perfect integrated app which combines all the benefits of Google Wallet and Facebook Pay and much more in one seamless and intuitive system.
What impact will changes in your industry have on consumers? the world?
Think of how far we have come from queuing at the bank to check our balances, then queuing to pay the electric bill and so on to having all those opportunities, and many more at your fingertips.
With giants like Google and Facebook moving into this sector, we could just as well assist at the redesign of the banking system as we know it. And maybe, offer more freedom for people around the world in what i hope to be a freer, less regulated, market.
What is your biggest goal right now?
At the time, my biggest goal is professional development. Creating that special set and mix of skills invaluable for any employer.
Closely followed by personal development and growing as a person.
What kind of support or types of people do you need to accelerate your success?
Growing up, my father always told me that nothing comes easily in life and that a great deal of work is needed to attain success. Adding to his words, I’d like to say that you don’t necessarily have to be alone on your journey.
For me, those people would have to be my bosses who always keep me closely anchored to the ground and provide the best encouragement when needed, but also friends and family who are always able to provide that “pick-me-up” when things don’t seem to work out the way they should.
What makes you or your work different from everybody else?
The fact that I work for a start-up allows me to have all the space I need to grow both professionally and personally. Working here I had the opportunity to be confronted with issues and challenges that sometime go farther than my level of knowledge (and job description) but alongside my colleagues we’ve learned together and we’ve grown so that at the end, the job was done on time and we all had something to gain out of it.
I’ts never a dull moment! Although my position is low in the company, each day i get to work with upper management and I offer input on different projects that sometimes have nothing to do with finance or accounting and that for me is worth more than anything any other multinational can offer.
