Adriana J. Garces — I am a Multi-disciplinary Visual Artist, which means I’m experienced in creating art of many forms.
What do you see as the biggest opportunity in your industry?
One of the biggest opportunities I see happening in the Arts now, is the immense attention being placed upon sharing platforms which are growing and others in development. The internet, of course, has helped tremendously in making the sharing platform a breeze, while actual interactions have started to see a beautiful hark back to “happenings”.
What impact will changes in your industry have on consumers? the world?
One of the biggest impacts in the Arts now for consumers is the way in which all of it is actually consumed. Again, technological advances are increasingly becoming more adaptable to the way we buy or enjoy arts of any kind. Still, there’s nothing like seeing a great exhibition in person, listening to a concert you’re actually at, or reading poetry amongst intellectuals who appreciate the human interaction. The biggest impact of art on the world is that we can make a huge difference in helping to motivate towards good change and peaceful conversation as opposed to negative consequences for our errors.
What is your biggest goal right now?
I hope to secure an arts residency where I’ll be able to focus more of my time on just the creative process without interruption. That’s the whole idea behind arts residencies and one any artist can benefit from in many ways. The ultimate goal in that achievement for me would be a culminating solo Exhibition. I also look forward to seeing more of the world up close, bringing positivity where hope may be low on priority lists.
What kind of support or types of people do you need to accelerate your success?
The kind of people I appreciate both in personal and business areas are ones who add to a positive balance I strive to maintain. Negativity is a something I steer clear of whenever possible. Keeping this outlook is success in itself for me. Building on my business goals, growing the client base through human interaction is one way I hope to continue progressing. The support of loyal customers is an invaluable asset.
What makes you or your work different from everybody else?
We are all individuals and I believe no one will create someone else’s vision exactly. The difference in my work is that I don’t usually work by using photographs, but by memory and waking visions. Some of my work involves deciphering dreams, both my own and others. I don’t usually change my direction according to art world trends and I am glad to continue making what makes me happy, regardless of status quo.
