What do you do?
My husband and are are all about travel. We house sit. We are Airbnb hosts. We are launching a business as tour operators.
My blog concentrates on helping others become successful house sitters around the world. I encourage slow travel and meeting locals. Our new business offers tours to Spain where we explore the wine region of Catalonia.
What do you see as the biggest opportunity in your industry?
Slow travel. Travelers everywhere are discovering the benefits of taking in the richness of a given street or village or region instead of taking a travel tour that stops for a few hours in Paris, for example, before moving on.
Our new travel experiences, (not “tours”), stay in one place and explore the region on day trips. We also lodge in a venue that allows us to interact more as a family and not where our group has to dodge hundreds of other tourists.
What impact will changes in your industry have on consumers? the world?
There’s a hunger for connection. For the personal interaction that warms our hearts and teaches us about each other. I hope that occurs with slow travel. We all need it!
Technology isn’t going away, but with people learning how to connect, we can perhaps counteract the negative societal effects of staring into a screen. Slow travel and understanding foreign cultures can achieve that.
What is your biggest goal right now?
Right this minute it’s a selfish goal — to simply market my new business.
What kind of support or types of people do you need to accelerate your success?
I know that our new business, our travel experiences, are not for everyone, so I need to get my face and my information out to as many people as possible. Your request for this interview is a perfect example.
Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.
PS: My new landing page for my new business is slated to go live April 4th. If you could hold off posting this until then, I would greatly appreciate it!
What makes you or your work different from everybody else?
I am a staunch advocate for people connecting with people and for the art of conversation. I believe in telling others what I love about them — I don’t keep it to myself!
Thank you!
